In this part of the building there were mixers in which nitroglycerine was mixed with nitrocellulose (supplied from another area of DAG Fabrik Bromberg). Once these substances were mixed, gunpowder cake was obtained. The resulting gunpowder cake was very wet (due to the supplied nitroglycerine together with water) so it fell down a floor below where the centrifuges were located. In the centrifuges, excess water was spun off at very high speed (similar to today's washing machines). Once the process was complete, the slightly damp powder cake was taken to the next lower floor, where it was packed into rubberised bags and transported to the next building.
