Particularly noteworthy are the decorative guild boxes on display. They are decorated with marquetry, which involves covering wooden surfaces with wood, usually of a different colour or drawing, also incised, flamed or even stained. Cases are also decorated with inlay, which in turn involves the use of materials other than wood, such as ivory, mother-of-pearl or metals. Intarsia developed in Toruń at a very high level of artistry and workmanship particularly intensively in the 18th century.
