A tool made of iron. It dates to the medieval period between the 10th and 12th centuries. Its length is 17.4 cm, the diameter of the socket, i.e. the part with the hole in which the axe was placed, i.e. the handle, is 4 cm. The axe was terminated with protrusions, known as whiskers, which were arranged along the length of the wooden axe. These have survived only in residual form. The blade is relatively narrow, widening downwards. After cleaning and conservation treatment, it appears to us as a heavily damaged object with an uneven, chipped blade. The metallic grey surfaces are porous with punctuated and grooved depressions from the removed corrosion. Axes are among the basic pieces of weaponry of medieval knights. They were used to fight on the battlefield, at tournaments but were useful for everyday work.
