The painting was made using watercolour, ink and crayon on paper. It was created in 1933 in Gościeradz. Between 1930 and 1933, Wyczółkowski tackled the theme of spring four times. Each of the representations differs from one another in details, including the shape of the vase, visible on the right. The work depicts a fragment of the interior of a room in the manor house in Gościeradz. We see an open window, an armchair pushed back and an open book with turning pages lying on the windowsill. The whole environment gives the impression as if Leon had just been here. The artist wrote in his memoirs: Springtime in Gościeradz, May 1931: window, curtain, rhododendron in bloom. Study window overlooking the garden, tilted curtain, armchair. (...) Spring enters with its fragrance and blast. (...) About this spring wants to dream in the grave. (...) Tomorrow a new piece of spring on another paper. Another interesting aspect of the work is the dedication in the lower left corner to Mr and Mrs Szulisławski from Leon and his wife. Kazimierz Szulisławski was the artist's closest friend during the last years of his life.
