The Archers' Fraternity of Bydgoszcz, with its old roots dating back to the Middle Ages (1495), only lived to see the foundation of an insignia of this rank, made of silver bullion, a century after its foundation. This most valuable of the fraternity jewels (a fully elaborated eagle worn on a chain), a symbol of the power of the king of the Shooting Brotherhood (in Polish: Bractwo Kurkowe), is a unique memento of this confraternity. Maintaining the convention of 16th century solutions, the image of a hen was treated as an emblem of shooting fraternities.
