This building was used to recover the residual nitroglycerine that was in the water used in the production process at the nitration building. The water from the column scrubbers went to one of two cascades. Then, slowly flowing through the cascade, the water was separated from the nitroglycerine using filters (usually fleece filters). The recovered nitroglycerine was transported to the next building, the stabilisation building, where it was added to the nitroglycerine from the main process.
