This tunnel was designed for the evacuation of workers in the event of an explosion threat. Through a certain unique (and yet very simple) technical application, the chances of a successful escape operation were increased. The tunnel's designers envisaged a bend in the escape tunnel and filled the wall opposite the breakdown in the cavity with straw and plaster. In the event of an explosion, the shockwave was supposed to punch a hole in the alcove and its main momentum was supposed to weaken.
