The tunnels used to transport the production components as well as the nitroglycerine itself are constructed of reinforced concrete. By using a gravity flow method for the nitroglycerine, the risk of explosions could be avoided. Nitration building 1137 (this tunnel leads to it) is the highest located in the entire nitroglycerine zone. There were very often side branches in the tunnels. Some of these were escape tunnels to facilitate the evacuation of workers.
