The permanent exhibition “OBRAZY NIE - / RZECZYWISTOŚCI” / UN-REALISTIC IMAGES, is the first of the four planned expositions inspired by the subtitle 'Inspirations and Aspirations'. The exhibition presents creative statements in the context of established ideas, as well as attempts by pioneers and precursors to develop their own artistic paths. The works on display include objects from the fields of painting, printmaking, sculpture and multimedia objects. The exhibition is based mainly on the own collection of the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz, showing the most representative objects from the collection of several thousand items of Polish painting, graphics, sculpture, objects, installations and artistic photography of the 20th and 21st centuries. The presented works represent the formal, content and stylistic assumptions of particular directions, tendencies and trends in Polish visual arts of the last sixty years. Their cognitive value is also influenced by the selection in terms of presenting artists whose names have been permanently inscribed in the history of art.
