The King's Hall was put at the disposal of the kings and, apart from their visits, was used from 1523 as a meeting place of the Third Ordinance - 60 representatives of the Torun borough, i.e. representation of the common people in the municipal authorities. The room is decorated with the Poster of the Polish Kings, which consists of 24 portraits, 18 of which are the oldest set of images of this type in Poland made for a specific occasion with ideological and political motives - on the occasion of the Colloquium Charitativum held in Toruń in 1645. In addition to the portraits, the current decoration of the Royal Hall consists of Baroque furniture, richly decorated with marquetry and inlay, for which the Toruń workshops were famous, especially in the 18th century.
Hall in front of the Royal Hall
Here we draw your attention to the magnificent portal - an ornamental door frame - through which kings entered the Royal Hall. Its upper part dates from 1605. The marble panel bears a Latin inscription, flanked by pilasters decorated with allegorical figures of Valour and Prudence in niches and figures of Roman soldiers on plinths.
