The fourth room of the gallery includes the art of Young Poland - works created from the late 19th to the early 20th century, which present, among other things, Impressionism, Art Nouveau and Symbolism. This is the former room of the steward, i.e. the town treasurer, which is accessed from the courtyard by an inlaid door with the only inlaid portal in the Town Hall, which we drew your attention to earlier. What undoubtedly stands out here is the set of works by a leading representative of symbolism in Poland - Jacek Malczewski, whose Janko Muzykant (Janko the Musician) and the triptych Niewola, wojna, wolność (Captivity, War, Freedom) are excellent examples of the multithreaded and symbolic work of one of the greatest neo-Romantics in the art of the Young Poland period.
