The smallest painting in the gallery is From Hunting - Trumpeter by Maksymilian Gierymski,(right) the older of the two painter brothers. The younger - Alexander - is represented by two paintings: one depicts a Roman altarpiece in the interior in diffused light, while the other shows the Scalighieri tombs in Verona illuminated by a harsh sun. Right next to the inlaid portal with the door to the Hall of the Steward, i.e. the city treasurer, is displayed Józef Chełmoński's First Lark (to the left of the corridor), which stands out in this part of the Town Hall gallery not only for the depth of its masterfully rendered perspective of a lowland landscape, but also for its skilful depiction of the mood of the Polish countryside.
