Examples of ceramic products, vessels and stove tiles found during archaeological supervision carried out in the central part of Solec Kujawski at the Market Square (today John Paul II Square) and at 23 Stycznia and Toruńska streets. Particularly noteworthy is a jug found during the renovation of a house at John Paul II Square 4, where the remains of a 17th-century pottery workshop were discovered in the lower parts of the foundations. Fragments of tiles with angelic motifs, found near the Museum of Solec, during the construction of a bus bay, probably come from the same period. These archaeological discoveries seem to confirm the data contained in historical sources, which show that pottery was the most popular craft in Solec in the 17th and 18th centuries, and representatives of this profession many times held the most important functions in the city, including the position of mayor. Referring to these traditions, from 2022, the Museum of Solec is organizing Pottery Festivals.
