The sculpture depicting a lion comes from the forecourt of a tenement house at 2 Żeglarska Street in Toruń and testifies to the different appearance of the city until the 19th century. The facades of many of the city's townhouses had lobbies that occupied the entire width of the building, becoming a kind of extension outside the parade high hallway. They provided an entrance by stairs to the tenement and from the street - the cellar neck - to the basement. In the summer season they served as a place for children to play and socialise.
