The first permanent exhibition of Far Eastern art in Poland was opened in the Star House in 1970. It was created thanks to the collector Tadeusz Wierzejski, one of the most generous donors to Polish museums after the Second World War. His collection, which he gifted to the museum, was the source of the most valuable objects presented at the World of Orient The collection includes artifacts from China, Siam, Tibet, Korea, Vietnam, India and Japan. Temporary exhibitions are usually held in the Great Hall, but some items are on permanent display. The stone head of a Bodhisattva made in China during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) attracts our attention. A Bodhisattva is an enlightened being, or one on the verge of enlightenment - a future Buddha. The head was most likely cut from a full-length sculpture.
