Before entering the next room, we should stop in front of the information board. In the interwar years, Grudziądz was one of the largest garrisons in Poland. It housed the Cavalry Training Center, established on August 15, 1920 as the Central Riding School. This central cavalry training center in Poland existed under various names until the end of August 1939. All young years of permanent service officers and reserve cadets, as well as almost all senior officers, passed through this military university. The Cavalry Training Center was a grouping of schools and courses, it was an independent unit with the rights of a cavalry brigade, and its commander had the powers of a brigadier general. In 1926, classes began with the first year of the Cavalry Reserve Cadet School. The Cavalry Training Center conducted refresher courses for command and instructor staff. The most important were the Courses of Squadron Commanders, because they prepared for direct work in regiments. The Cavalry Cadet School gave its graduates solid, modern military training. In total, in the years 1920 – 1939 there were 17 officer promotions for about 1700 second lieutenants of the permanent cavalry service. At the Cavalry Reserve Cadet School there were 13 promotions, and 3208 graduates graduated from it. Both the Centre itself and both schools had their own commemorative badges. Officers performed in the colors of their regiments. During the ceremony, the Center performed with the banner of the Cavalry Officer School and pennants in amaranth and navy blue colors. All these elements distinguished cavalry from other types of weapons. In front of the entrance there is a touch screen where you can watch the history of CWK divided into several sequences richly illustrated with numerous photographs as well as archive movies.
