No two coins in the Treasury are identical. Of note are the ducats of the City of Hamburg presented from No. 48 to No. 53. Both sides depict the figure of the Virgin and Child. On the reverse at the top is the annual date. The oldest date from 1497, the youngest from 1646, and they are very similar despite being about 150 years apart. The youngest were made in the Baroque era, but are made in the medieval style. Their appearance was not changed because people were used to them and valued their quality. In one of these coins, someone drilled a hole to turn it into a medal. After some time, the ornament thus obtained found its way between the coins again, so it regained its monetary function.
