The Bydgoszcz Treasury reflects well the processes of gold coin production and a range of economic and cultural phenomena. The Treasury, as in the era in which it was formed, is dominated by foreign coins, especially Dutch, and Polish coins are only about 1%. Many coins show traces of checking by bending whether they are made of gold. Three coins have been turned into medallions by drilling holes. Some are worn, indicating that they were frequently used. Many coins have no wear and look as if they have just come out of the mint. The coins as a whole have the character of an individual's savings. For the entire amount collected, one could buy a new and well-furnished townhouse in an attractive location.
