On 2 January 2018, a treasure of 486 gold coins and several hundred other valuables was discovered during archaeological investigations in the Bydgoszcz parish church. The treasure was buried under the floor of the church. The coins were in a metal box and on top of it lay other objects wrapped in cloth. The coins came from dozens of centres in different countries. The oldest were minted in 1495/1496 and the youngest in 1652. The treasure was collected over a period of years and the individual items belonged to lay people - women and men from several generations. The valuables are believed to have belonged to the Denhoff and Ossolinsky families, and were hidden in 1655 for fear of Swedish soldiers.
