Flowers in a two-hole vase is one of Leon Wyczółkowski's last works. He probably created it on 11 November 1936, just over a month before his death. The artist used watercolour paints and used paper as a ground. The work is unfinished, a sketch can be seen delicately filled in with colour. In the painting, we see the outline of field, multicoloured flowers in a two-hole vase. The motif of nature fascinated Wyczółkowski throughout his career. Still lifes complemented by vegetation were 'portrayed' by the artist in practically all the techniques he used. The blue vase comes from the collection of Leon Wyczółkowski, while Kwiatkowski and Tichy were responsible for the design. The painting and the ceramics reproduced on it found their way into the collection of the Bydgoszcz museum in 1937, as a gift from the artist's wife, Franciszka Wyczółkowska.
